Inked and Faded answers the questions people actually type into Google at eleven o’clock at night, three days after getting tattooed. Is this soap okay. Why is it peeling. When can I go back to the gym.
Most of the answers online are either an artist’s personal preference presented as fact, or a product page dressed up as advice. We try to do something narrower and more useful: say what is actually known, say where it came from, and say plainly when the honest answer is “nobody knows” or “it does not matter”.
How we work
- Health claims get sources. Anything about healing, infection or safety is cited to a regulator, a journal or a clinical reference — not to another blog.
- We correct things in public. When a page here has been wrong, the correction stays visible on the page rather than being quietly edited out. There are already several.
- Product links are dated. Every recommendation shows when its link was last checked, because products get discontinued and advice goes stale.
- We are not doctors. Nothing here is medical advice. If something looks infected, see a doctor — that sentence appears on most pages of this site for a reason.
Follow your artist first
Your tattooist has seen how their own work heals on hundreds of people, and they know what they used on you. Where their aftercare instructions differ from anything on this site, follow theirs. We are a second opinion, not a first one.
How this site makes money
Affiliate links, and eventually display advertising. Both are disclosed. Neither changes what gets recommended — the full policy is on the affiliate disclosure page.
Get in touch
Corrections, questions and disagreements are all welcome via the contact page. If we have got something wrong, we would rather hear it from you than leave it up.
